NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Pelicans need for a starting center amplified Sunday night with the news that Jonas Valanciunas is heading to Washington.

ESPN Senior NBA Insider, Adrian Wojnarowski, reported that Valanciunas and the Wizards have agreed to a three-year, $30 million deal in the opening hours of the NBA free agency period.

He averaged 23.5 minutes, 12.2 points (55.9% shooting), and 8.8 rebounds per game in the 2023-24 season, but his best ability was his availability.

Jonas Valanciunas played in all 86 of the New Orleans Pelicans’ games last season and missed just 11 games the last three years.

He brings post production and durability to a young Washington Wizards roster.
