NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Saints shut out Tom Brady’s Buccaneers, 9-0, in Tampa Sunday night. In fact, the loss marked Brady’s first shutout in 15 years.
The Saints (7-7) were without head coach Sean Payton due to a positive COVID-19 test Friday. Taking over for Payton was defensive coordinator Dennis Allen.
Taysom Hill, who picked up his first win as the Saints starting quarterback this season in a 30-9 victory over the Jets last Sunday, went 13 of 27 for 154 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. Hill also rushed for 33 yards on 11 carries.
The game was a total defensive battle with both teams combining for 17 punts (9 Saints, 8 Bucs).
The Bucs were coming off of a 33-27 overtime victory over the Bills and now fall to 10-4 after failing to clinch their first NFC South title since 2007 with a victory. Brady continued his struggles against the Saints, going 26 for 48 with for 214 yards and an interception to C.J. Gardner in the fourth quarter.
During the game, Cam Jordan picked up five tackles and two sacks – including his 100th career sack.
