NASHVILLE (WGNO) — The New Orleans Saints (5-4) lost a 23-21 heartbreaker on the road to the Tennessee Titans (8-2) Sunday at Nissan Stadium.
The Saints rallied from a 20-6 deficit at the start of the third quarter to pull to within two points when quarterback Trevor Siemian found Marquez Callaway for a 15-yard TD. However, a false start penalty called on Adam Trautman proved costly and the Saints failed on the two-point conversion needed to tie with 1:16 to play.
Kicker Brian Johnson missed two extra points in the game, forcing the Saints to go for two, something they have not successfully converted on since 2018.
Saints haven’t made a two-point conversion since 2018.
The Saints were coming off of a 27-25 loss to the Atlanta Falcons (4-5), who were trounced by the Dallas Cowboys (7-2) on Sunday, 43-3. Siemian has lost both starts since taking over for the injured Jameis Winston, who suffered a season-ending knee injuring during first half of the Saints victory over Tampa Bay.
The Saints were also without star running back Alvin Kamara, who missed practice all week with a knee injury of his own.
With the win, the Titans have won six straight.
