DALLAS (BRPROUD) — Geaux Nation spoke with LSU head coach Brian Kelly before he went on stage at SEC Media Days in Dallas on Monday.
The LSU Tigers head coach touched on several topics, including the players he brought to SEC Media Days: quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, linebacker Harold Perkins and tight end Mason Taylor.
“This will be the most accountable football team (of his tenure) here,” Kelly told reporters. “We go into this opening game (against Southern Cal) knowing a lot better of who we are as a program.”
Kelly said Nussmeier has the ability to lead the LSU team “without having to be cavalier or careless.” He said Nussmeier knows “he has to blaze his own path” on this team.
According to LSU Athletics, Tigers football players report for training camp on July 31 with the first practice set for the following day. The team will face Southern Cal in Las Vegas on Sept. 1.
Geaux Nation will have live updates from Texas tonight at 5, 6 and 10 p.m. on NBC 33 and 5:30 and 9 p.m. on FOX 44.
