BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A gymnast at LSU has decided to remain a Tiger for one more season.

In an interview with LSU Sports, Sierra Ballard announced she will be a member of the LSU Gymnastics squad for her final year of eligibility.

Ballard is a 2024 National Champion from Mandeville, Louisiana, who started her collegiate journey as a Tiger in 2021, according to LSU Sports.

Ballard has competed in every meet for the past two years. She was able to score a career-high 9.950 on the beam during the NCAA National Championship.

“There’s just something different about LSU,” Ballard told LSU Sports. “You can’t put it into words until you come here. If I have an opportunity to continue making history with my best friends, in the best place in this world, then I’m going to do that.”

Ballard was named an NCAA All-American after her performance on the beam in the NCAA Semifinals, LSU reports.

In her career, she accumulated three SEC Academic Honor Roll awards, was listed as a 2021 WCGA Academic All-American and was listed on the 2023 SEC Community Service Team.
