LSU Softball promotes Sandra Moton to assistant coach

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — LSU alumna and NFCA All-Region selection Sandra Moton has been promoted to a full-time assistant coach, announced by Head Coach Beth Torina.

Moton served as the program’s volunteer assistant coach since 2018. In that span, Moton helped produce four NFCA All-Americans, 20 NFCA All-Region selections and 17 All-SEC selections. Before returning to LSU, Moton served as a graduate assistant at Kentucky, where she was the team’s director of operations.

Moton, formerly Sandra Simmons, is a four-year letter winner for LSU that played for Torina from 2013-2016. Moton started all but one game in her career and is a 2016 NFCA South All-Region selection and 2015 SEC All-Defensive Team honoree. Moton finished her career with a .325 batting average with 37 doubles, 10 triples and 17 home runs. Her 10 triples and her 99 career walks rank No. 9 all-time in the program’s record book.

She was part of the 2015 and 2016 Women’s College World Series runs and was the MVP of the 2015 Baton Rouge Super Regional, where she logged a .800 batting average in two games and led the team with six RBIs with an 1.800 slugging percentage and .714 on-base percentage.
