NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The NBA free agency period delivers another blow to the New Orleans Pelicans with reports that Naji Marshall will sign with the Dallas Mavericks.

According to ESPN NBA Senior Insider, Adrian Wojnarowski, Marshall and the Mavericks agreed to a three-year, $27 million deal.

He started his career as an UDFA out of Xavier and developed into a productive piece of the Pelicans rotation, providing a defensive spark off the bench with an improved offensive repertoire.

In four years with New Orleans, Marshall appeared in 230 games, 66 in the 2023-24 season.

Naji Marshall averaged 19.5 minutes, 7.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 0.7 steals per game in his Pelicans’ career. He saw career-highs in field goal percentage (46.3 %) and three-point percentage (38.7%) last season.

Naji Marshall joins Kyrie Irving, Luka Doncic, and a Dallas Mavericks team that won the Western Conference but fell short in the NBA Finals.

Marshall’s reported departure comes hours after Jonas Valanciunas agreed to a three-year, $30 million deal with the Washington Wizards.
