NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — With the official opening of the NFL free agency period, the New Orleans Saints have reportedly designated wide receiver Michael Thomas as a post-June 1st cut.

Several sources are reporting that Thomas is being released with a failed physical designation.

The move comes as no surprise based on the fact that Thomas signed a 1-year, $10 million restructured contract with the Saints in March of 2023.

The 2019 offensive player of the year has only played 13 games in the last three seasons.

He missed the entire 2021 season after a setback while rehabbing an ankle injury suffered in the 2020 season.

He played three games in the 2022 season before being placed on IR with a toe injury.

In their 9-8 finish last year, he saw action in 10 games before a knee injury against the Minnesota Vikings in week 10 sent him back to IR.

Thomas is officially a free agent and can sign with another NFL team.
