THIBODAUX, La. (WGNO) — Nicholls has hired Brent Haring as its next head baseball coach. Haring completed his first and only season with LSU this year, working as the Tigers’ director of baseball operations.

Haring will replace Mike Silva as the Colonels’ skipper. Silva resigned his position at Nicholls two weeks ago to become Arkansas State’s head coach.

The Massachusetts native led the Colonels to back-to-back Southland conference titles, including the program’s first regular season conference crown, and consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, in only three seasons at the helm.

The Tiger-turned-Colonel will begin his first collegiate head coaching job next season. Haring has been an associate head coach at BYU, an assistant coach at Utah Tech, and has worked at several other schools, including his alma mater Southern Virginia.

Haring’s only experience as a head coach has been for the American Samoa National Team.

Nicholls has not yet announced when the school will hold Haring’s introductory press conference.
