It was good to be back home practicing Monday. It will be better Friday night when the Saints host the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first home preseason game of 2016.
Saints head coach Sean Payton noted that several Saints will be playing their first game at the Superdome.
The Saints are coming off a 16-9 loss at Houston Saturday night. The Saints committed three turnovers and were held to 260 yards of offense on 70 plays. Saints linebacker Nate Stupar said the club didn’t have a training camp hangover in Houston.
The Saints have now lost 7 straight preseason games, a streak that stretches back to August of 2014.
Sean Payton said he likes what he sees of running back CJ Spiller. A knee injury limited to Spiller to 36 carries in 2015.
Payton said it is important that last year’s first pick, Andrus Peat, “settles in at a position”, likely right guard. Peat has also played left tackle.
The Saints practice Tuesday at 9:30 am. Weather permitting, the workout is open to the public.
