(WGNO) – Former Saints linebacker Junior Galette wasn’t out of a job for long. ESPN reported Friday that the Redskins signed Galette to a one-year deal worth $745,000.

Galette’s agent, Alvin Keels, said on Twitter that Galette “is grateful for the second chance he is being afforded.”

Saints General manager Mickey Loomis told WGNO this week that letting Galette go was a “hard decision” with “a lot of variables involved”.

Galette has been connected to two off-field controversies this year, which are being investigated by the NFL and could lead to a suspension.

In January 2015, police were called to Galette’s Kenner home after a live-in assistant claimed she was jumped by Galette and his cousin Terrance Banks. A misdemeanor domestic violence charge stemming from that incident was dropped a month later.

In June, Galette was back in the news after a video surfaced showing him hitting a woman with a belt during a brawl in 2013.

Galette joined the Saints in 2010 as an undrafted free agent and had 31.5 career sacks.
