NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The much-anticipated new attraction, “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure,” is set to open at Disney World in a month. Some music for the ride will be provided by Grammy award winner Terrence Blanchard.
Straight from New Orleans to Disney World, our music will be played for visitors all around the world.
“Not only will people get the chance to hear New Orleans music, but they’ll hear it by so many of New Orleans artists right now,” Blanchard said.
Seven-time Grammy award winner and composer Blanchard is one of those artists. He created music for the hit Disney movie “The Princess and the Frog,” even creating trumpet tunes as Louis, the musical alligator.
Blanchard is excited that his music will be heard at the new ride.
“New Orleans music has a very infectious nature to it. I don’t care what you’re going through. You start tapping your toes, you move, you wiggle, and groove to the entire thing,” Blanchard said.
Being a part of the movie and now ride goes beyond the music for him.
“The thing that’s so powerful about the movie for me is watching so many young women relate to it and Tiana. She’s strong and beautiful, and I hope it continues to have that type of effect,” he said.
Blanchard said he never actually dreamed that his music would be at Disney World but considers it a big blessing.
“My experience with Disney has always been a beautiful and positive one. I can’t wait to see it. The stuff they were talking about putting on the ride from every aspect of our culture, it is going to be awesome,” he said.
Blanchard said he will be at Disney World with his 8-year-old grandson for a special sneak preview of “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” in a few weeks, where he will also be performing.
WGNO’s Kenny Lopez and Justin Abshire will be heading to Disney World for the sneak preview. Stay tuned on-air and online.
