MEMPHIS, Tenn. — August 16 marks 39 years since Elvis Presley, King of Rock and Roll, died at the age of 42.

While Memphis celebrates the legendary singer’s life, Black Lives Matter protesters have launched a series of protests calling for increases to the minimum wage, relief from unemployment, and an end to police brutality in the city.

WREG in Memphis reports nearly 200 peaceful demonstrators marched outside the gates of Graceland, Presley’s mansion, with just three arrests made.  A police spokesman confirmed the protesters did not get a permit for their demonstration.
