NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Light showers are expected to continue across the northern Gulf Coast through Saturday morning.

Rain coverage and intensity may increase some overnight, but the heaviest rain associated with this system will remain offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. The wet weather will be pushed out of the area Saturday as our next cold front sweeps across the region.

Cooler air will quickly move in with breezy conditions making it feel even cooler. Highs will be in only in the 50s Saturday and Sunday, and overnight lows will approach freezing in the northern areas by Sunday or Monday morning. Most of the area will see the warmest temperatures early Saturday, then falling numbers behind the front. Expect widespread 40s by mid to late afternoon.

By Tuesday, temperatures are set to return to the 70s during the day with lows in the 50s. This pattern will likely continue for several days with rain chances remaining fairly low.
