NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Onshore flow will continue into Friday which means the coastal flooding will continue as well. A coastal flood advisory is in effect until 4 PM. It doesn’t look like we will see any additional flooding above what we already have, however current levels will be slow to drop through another high tide cycle or two through Friday.

By Saturday the winds will weaken and be a bit more southeasterly. Temperatures will be heating up through the first full weekend of summer. Expect low 90s Friday with widespread mid 90s by Saturday and Sunday.

Rain chances Friday will be spotty with tropical showers in mostly the same areas as Thursday. Chances will be highest south of I-10 and eventually a bit more widespread in southwestern areas. Overall activity will move through quickly and most of the area will not see rain through the weekend.

Heat index values will be back around 105 by Saturday and Sunday to remember to stay hydrated.

In the tropics the Hurricane Center is once again highlighting the southwest Gulf and Bay of Campeche with a 50% chance of development over the next 7 days. This would be the same area where Alberto formed. Right now it looks a bit less likely we see development, but anything that does develop would once again move west into Mexico or Texas.
