NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A coastal flood advisory is in effect for the lower parts of the parishes until Tuesday afternoon due to persistent onshore flow out of the south around the eastern side of Beryl. This could lead to tide levels of 1-2 feet above normal in the low areas.
The other issue Monday is the heat. Most of the area is under a heat advisory again with low to mid 90s and heat index values above 105 again Monday afternoon. It will be breezy but very muggy to start the week.
Expect isolated storms this afternoon but much better rain chances on Tuesday as Beryl pulls inland and moves east. Any storms that do develop will have the chance to produce very heavy rain thanks to all the tropical moisture over the area.
Look for rain chances to get back to more typical summer coverage for the second half of the week.
