NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Good Morning, New Orleans! Overnight, a cold front swept through, bringing cooler air to the Gulf Coast region.

Temperatures have dropped into the 50s across inland portions of the Northshore with lows in the 60s elsewhere. Cloud cover will prevent temperatures from dropping too quickly, but you’ll notice it’s cooler than recent nights.

Later today, clouds will start to clear, and temperatures will stay cool, mostly reaching the 60s. Breezy conditions may make it feel slightly cooler with winds at 10 to 20 miles per hour.

By late tonight, high pressure will dominate, leading to clear skies. Tuesday night will be chilly, especially for inland areas, where there’s a chance for frost and a light freeze for a few hours. A Freeze Watch is issued for northern locations from 2AM-9AM Tuesday morning. Sensitive vegetation may need to be protected. Further south, it will be milder with morning lows in the low 40s.

Throughout the first half of the week, expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the low to mid 60s. Rain chances increase Thursday into Friday, with about a half-inch of rainfall expected. The weekend looks promising, with mostly clear skies and highs in the mid 70s.
