NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The unsettled pattern that’s been over the area the past several days will finally change on Friday and last through the weekend. The ridge to our west will build over the area through Sunday and that will keep things much drier and also much hotter. Expect plenty of sun through the weekend.

Afternoon temperatures will be warming into the 90s each day. Friday will see afternoon temperatures in the low to mid 90s. Hottest numbers will be inland north of I-12. For the weekend we will continue to see daytime highs in the low to mid 90s but likely a degree or two lower than Friday.

A brief drop in humidity will move in Friday afternoon through midday Saturday which will allow areas north of I-12 to briefly drop into the upper 60s for lows Saturday.

By Monday another big trough sets up across the eastern U.S. and we will be back in a pattern similar to the past week. That will mean frequent rain chances for several days starting on Monday.
