NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — In the tropics the Hurricane Center is once again highlighting the southwest Gulf and Bay of Campeche with a 60% chance of development over the next 7 days. This would be the same area where Alberto formed. Right now it looks a bit less likely we see development, but anything that should develop would once again move west into Mexico or Texas.

Heat will be the main story as we go through the weekend. Expect daytime highs in the low to mid 90s on Saturday with most of the area in the mid 90s on Sunday. Rain chances will be very low.

Heat index values will be back around 105-108 by Saturday and Sunday to remember to stay hydrated.

It looks like we will see rain chances increase again by the middle of next week.
