NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Showers and storms are going to be moving through again Monday. Like yesterday some of these will produce locally heavy downpours and gusty winds. The duration of rain will also be longer than Sunday with the chance for rain lasting later in the evening.

Overall 1-3 inches of rain will be possible over the next couple of days. Some areas could see higher amounts if you get storms training over the same spots. Expect showers to continue into Tuesday with the bulk of the more widespread heavy rain shifting to the west.

Tropical development is still possible in the southwest Gulf but our forecast will remain the same regardless of development. Tuesday we start to see an increased flow out of the east and southeast with winds along the coast and offshore gusting into the 30s by late Tuesday and Wednesday.

This will lead to the chance for high water outside the levee system and we have a coastal flood advisory in effect starting early Tuesday morning.

By Wednesday we see a more isolated rain chance as daytime heating showers and storms pop up. Temperatures will climb back into the upper 80s by that point.
