NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Rain will be tapering off across the area Thursday afternoon and we will see a break in the activity through the evening hours. However more rain is on the way over the next couple of days. The main threat in the short term is fog. Expect foggy conditions Thursday night, especially near the marine areas, with dense fog possible. Use caution while traveling.
Around 2 to 4 inches of rainfall can be expected over the next day or two. Some locations may see higher totals, especially in areas where storms are slow-moving.
Expect another wave of rain to develop Thursday night through Friday morning. Right now it looks like the southern half of the area will see the majority of that rain, along with the eastern portions.
Expect one more round of rain and storms Saturday as the actual front pushes through. Once that happens we will finally dry out for the second half of the weekend and most of next week. Once the front clears, drier conditions are in the forecast as temperatures cool to the 50s for highs by Sunday with 30s and 40s Monday morning.
