NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A warm, humid, and rainy weather pattern is expected for the next few days.

Right now, temperatures are in the 70s. Only spotty shower activity had wet the roads this morning, but rain coverage and intensity is increasing. Elevated rain chances are in the forecast Wednesday through Saturday.

Right now, it appears the heaviest rain will move through this afternoon. Waves of showers and storms are likely through the afternoon with a break for most locations in the evening hours. A level 2 out of 5 risk is issued for possible severe weather including gusty winds and an isolated tornado. Then, a similar situation is expected on Thursday with some rain in the morning followed by a cluster of storms in the afternoon. Anticipate another round of fog tomorrow to start out, as well.

Around 2 to 5 inches of rainfall can be expected over the next 2 to 3 days. Some locations may see higher totals, especially in areas where storms are slow-moving. There is a Level 3 flood threat for South Louisiana and South Mississippi on Wednesday, and a Level 2 flood threat Thursday, Friday.

Some more wet weather is possible as our next cold front approaches on Saturday. Once the front clears, drier conditions are in the forecast as temperatures drop back into the 50s and 60s for highs and 30s and 40s for lows.
