Rain chance will continue Tuesday afternoon

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Scattered showers and storms will continue to move across the area Tuesday afternoon before coming to an end after 6-7 PM.

While localized flooding cannot be ruled out, the threat for widespread flash flooding is much lower compared to yesterday. Rain is more scattered across the area today and any storms that develop will move through quickly.

Strong to severe storms are possible through Tuesday afternoon as a line moves across the area through the middle of Tuesday afternoon. Damaging wind gusts and large hail are the primary threats. Most storms will stay below severe limits.

Tonight, the wet weather is forecast to clear out but humidity will remain elevated.

Fog could continue to be an issue through Thursday morning. A frontal system will cause a general increase in shower and thunderstorm coverage as the end of the week approaches. The latest models show scattered showers and storms moving in late Friday into early Saturday, but the exact timing of this next system and where the heaviest rain sets up is still in question.
