NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Showers and storms will continue around the area late Friday afternoon before dissipating after sunset. Most of the activity will be south of I-10 but some could impact the immediate metro area.

Rain looks to be ending by the time fireworks go off around the area this evening with muggy conditions in place. Expect overnight lows only in the low to mid 80s.

Another heat advisory is in effect for the area on Friday. Temperatures will climb into the low 90s with heat index values over 100 before showers and storms pop up.

It looks like we will see a bit later but more widespread rain development on Friday. Look for scattered showers and storms by late afternoon with chances around 60%.

We stay with an elevated rain chance later in the day Saturday as well before less rain coverage comes back on Sunday.
