NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — We continue to watch an area in the southern Gulf and Bay of Campeche where Potential Tropical Cyclone One will likely turn into Alberto over the next couple of days. Regardless of development though our forecast will be the same.

It looks like the main issue over the next couple of days will be coastal flooding. A coastal flood advisory is in effect through Wednesday and may be upgraded to a warning. Strong onshore flow from the east and southeast will continue to push water toward the coast. Look for tide levels on average 1-3 feet above normal with isolated higher areas. Expect water in low areas along the coast, especially around Hancock County and St. Bernard Parish. Expect wind gusts in the 30s along the coast and offshore. Boating is not recommended.

Showers will continue off and on through Wednesday as well, although not as widespread and intense as Monday. These will move through quickly but could still produce heavy downpours.

Temperatures remain in the mid 80s today with upper 80s through Thursday. Drier conditions move in for the weekend.
