NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The tropics will stay quiet for the next 7 days at least and maybe even longer the way it looks right now. Large plumes of dust coming off of Africa will work across the Atlantic and really make it difficult for any development to take place.
The trough of low pressure that moved into the area Tuesday is draped along the coast Wednesday morning and will be sitting there through the day and into Thursday. This will be where we see the best chance of rain over the next couple of days. Expect locally heavy downpours to be the main threat. Street flooding will be possible with any storm that doesn’t move much.
The most widespread rain will be south of I-10 with chances getting lower as you move north of I-12. Plenty of cloud cover will help keep temperatures in the upper 80s to around 90 on the south shore.
Isolated storms continue to pop up inland through the rest of the week with daytime heating. Temperatures will be back in the low 90s by Thursday and Friday.
