All Jefferson Parish mandatory evacuations have been lifted

Hurricane evacuation route sign - seen in Dover, Delaware

JEFFERSON PARISH – On Friday afternoon, Mayor of Jean Lafitte Tim Kerner, Jr. and Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng announced that the mandatory evacuation for the town of Jean Lafitte, Lower Lafitte, Crown Point, Barataria, and Grand Isle has been lifted.

Water is receding; however, citizens should proceed with caution as there is still some road flooding in Lower Lafitte and Lower Barataria.

Remember, Parish Ordinance Section 36-188 prohibits motorists from traveling on flooded streets, which may increase the possibility of structural flooding due to wake action caused by moving vehicles.

The evacuation was necessary for residents to safely get out of impact zones and avoid the potential storm surge.
