Tropical downpours through the day Tuesday

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Tropical showers will be the name of the game on Tuesday as we see the remnants of Beryl continue to lift to the north. The southern end of the pressure trough will draped over our area for the next couple of days. That combined with a lot of moisture in the atmosphere will continue to cause showers and storms to develop.

The the cells that develop will be what we typically see during a tropical setup. They will be moving quickly, produce locally heavy downpours, and could cause waterspouts. Some lightning will pop up as well although not as much as a typical summer storm. The only real risk of flooding will come from any lines of cells that develop and repeat over the same areas. Temperatures will be cooler today but it will be very humid.

The best rain chances on Wednesday shift a bit to the south and will stay around the coast. However south of I-12 we will still see an elevated chance of rain. By Thursday we get back into the typical summer pattern of pop up storms during the day with low 90s.
