NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — We start the final weekend of the Carnival season with very warm and spring-like conditions.
Look for more mid to upper 70s Saturday followed by mid 70s Sunday. Overnight lows only drop into the low 60s. Some patchy fog is possible early morning through the weekend as well.
Rain chances will go up through the weekend. A few showers are possible on Saturday but most of the rain moves in Sunday and Sunday night. Sunday parades could be soggy later in the day. There is a chance of a few stronger storms as well later in the day Sunday. Right now the activity still looks fairly hit or miss through Sunday evening, but the SPC does have a low end severe weather outlook over the area.
Timing is still a question in terms of when the heaviest rain moves in. Right now it looks like overnight into early Monday. Rain may linger into midday Monday before moving out by afternoon festivities.
Temperatures will be quite a bit cooler however as the front pushes through. Expect breezy conditions on Monday and then nice weather for your Mardi Gras with highs Tuesday only in the around 60.
