NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — More hot and humid weather is on the way Wednesday and Thursday. Look for temperatures to climb to near or just above 90 each day. The breezy conditions will continue with winds out of the south at 15-20. A slight turn to the southwest with those winds on Thursday will likely give us our warmest day so far this year.

Afternoon heat index values will be approaching 100.

We are watching the potential for a cold front on Friday which could bring in some lower humidity and cooler air by the weekend. Expect some scattered showers and storms with the front. However it’s beginning to look like most of the rain stays just north of our area. This will be important to watch since any of the storms that develop could produce severe wind gusts.

Behind the front expect nicer weather on Saturday. It looks like more active weather develops early next week so look for better rain chances by Monday.
