NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Good Morning, New Orleans! Windy conditions are expected across the Gulf Coast region ahead of storms late Monday night into the overnight hours Tuesday!

Strong winds with sustained speeds ranging from 20 to 30 mph, and gusts up to 40 mph, are anticipated as a storm system approaches the area. A Wind Advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. Monday until 4 a.m. Tuesday.

With winds coming from the southeast, coastal flooding will be a concern, particularly for southeast-facing coastlines. A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 4 a.m. Tuesday.

As temperatures warm and atmospheric instability increases on Monday, conditions will become favorable for strong storms. Scattered storms are possible late Monday afternoon into the evening before a line of storms moves across the area likely between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m.

The main threats in any severe storms that develop will be damaging wind gusts, hail, and isolated tornadoes. The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of Southeast Louisiana and South Mississippi under a Level 2 (out of 5) threat for severe weather.

By mid-morning Tuesday, conditions are expected to improve as rain and moisture moves east out of the area.
