UPDATE:
LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — In a Sunday update, officials with the Lafourche Parish Water District No. 1 said the boil water advisory remains in effect for both sides of Bayou Lafourche between the East 28th Street Bridge and the Lafourche-Jefferson Parish line.
However, according to officials, the boil water advisory can be lifted for both sides of Bayou Lafourche between the Highway 654 Bridge and the East 28th Street Bridge.
They also said the water conservation notice has been lifted for the parish.
LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A water main break in Lafourche Parish has led officials to issue a boil water advisory for communities in Raceland and Fourchon.
Officials with Lafourche Parish Water District No. 1 announced Thursday, Jan. 25, that the water main broke near the South Water Treatment Plant, causing them to announce a conservation notice.
Residents living in the affected area were asked to conserve and not use the water unless it is necessary until further notice.
The cause of the break is unknown.
The Lafourche Parish School District announced that Central Lafourche High School, Career Magnet Center, and all Lockport and South Lafourche area schools will be closed on Friday, Jan. 26.
Parish leaders expect the advisory will remain until at least Monday.
