CHALMETTE, La. (WGNO) — An Alabama woman accused of driving while impaired has been arrested in connection with a crash that left two people dead in Chalmette.

On May 5, the Louisiana State Police reported troopers responded to a crash on Louisiana 46 at Jacob Drive around 2 a.m.

They said an initial investigation shows 38-year-old Brandon Harvey was driving an Acura east on Louisiana 46 when a GMC driven by 23-year-old Haziel Valle crossed the center turn lane and collided with the Acura head-on.

Harvey and his passenger, identified by the LSP as 37-year-old Crystal Williamson, suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Valle suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

On Wednesday, May 15, LSP officials announced that Valle was arrested in connection with the crash.

According to the LSP, “it was determined that 23-year-old Haziel Valle was impaired at the time of the crash.”

Valle faces charges of vehicular homicide, DWI first offense and “other traffic related charges.”
