Man killed in Downtown New Orleans shooting

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officers with the New Orleans Police Department are investigating a shooting that left a man dead in Downtown New Orleans on Saturday, June 1.

The NOPD reported officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 300 block of Marais Street around 11:18 p.m.

At the scene, NOPD officers said they found a man suffering with at least one gunshot wound.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an investigation, NOPD detectives said they arrested 34-year-old Keiona Robertson in connection with the shooting.

Robertson faces a charge of manslaughter.

On Wednesday, June 5, the Orleans Parish coroner identified the victim as 24-year-old John’te Williams.
