NOPD investigating fatal shooting in Lower Ninth Ward

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officers with the New Orleans Police Department are investigating a shooting that left a man dead in the Lower Ninth Ward on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

The NOPD reported that a man was shot in the 1800 block of Lizardi Street around 3:18 p.m.

Officers said they responded a to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive man on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds.

The man was taken by EMS to a hospital, where he later died.

The Orleans Parish coroner identified the victim as 22-year-old Erin Lewis on Friday, Feb. 23.
