Three shot after argument turns violent at Houma bar

HOUMA, La. (WGNO) — Three people are recovering following a shooting outside of a bar in Houma over the weekend.

On Sunday, June 30 at 1:30 a.m., Houma Police Department officers were called to a shooting at Thirsty’s Bar on Barataria Boulevard.

Upon arrival, officers said they learned an argument between several people led to gunfire being exchanged between them.

Of the victims, a 49-year-old man was hit in the leg by a stray bullet while at a hotel in the area. The second victim was a 26-year-old man who arrived at a hospital suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Houma officers said that later that day, a third victim, a 24-year-old man, arrived at a hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

All victims’ injuries are considered non-life threatening and they are expected to recover, according to police.

Through an investigation, detectives were able to identify 27-year-old Dontrell Allen as a suspect and arrested him on three counts of attempted second-degree murder and a count of illegal discharging of a firearm.
