NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating after a man and woman were wounded in two separate shootings on Sunday, Feb. 25.

According to police, the first shooting happened in New Orleans East around 8 p.m.

Officers say they responded to the 7000 block of Martine Drive where they say a woman was wounded by gunfire.

An investigation revealed the shooting stemmed from a fight that turned violent when an argument between, 28-year-old Tracy Lewis and 37-year-old Tracy Harris, allegedly turned physical.

NOPD officers say during the fight, Harris pulled out a gun and shot Lewis before he left the location.

Around 9:47 p.m., NOPD officers were alerted to the call of a man shot in the Desire area in the 3300 block of Pleasure Street.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment but their conditions are unknown.

No further details are available. The NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to find answers in both shootings.
