Woman accused in January homicide sought by New Orleans police

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a woman accused in a Gentilly area homicide case.

According to the NOPD, 45-year-old Rachita Jackson was named as a suspect in the Jan. 27 shooting death of a man in the 3400 block of Saint Anthony Street.

Officers say around 2 a.m., they responded to the call of shots fired at the address. When they arrived, an unresponsive man was found inside a pickup truck suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 42-year-old Travis A. Hobbs.

Through an investigation, NOPD officers identified Jackson as the suspect in the shooting.
