NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A French Quarter Festival-goer’s guide for navigating through the weekend has been released.
Festival organizers are warning French Quarter residents, business owners and employees of the traffic, rules and regulations to come between Thursday, April 11 and Sunday, April 14.
Drivers in the area are encouraged to find an alternative route for their commute, use public transportation or bike to maneuver around the city or park their vehicles in the Central Business District.
2024 marks the 41st anniversary of the festival and the focus will be to celebrate Louisiana’s Living Legends.
Fest-goers will have the chance to immerse themselves in the celebration of the “unique region” by visiting multiple venues and stages, watching legends and new artists perform and tasting food from over 60 chefs.
In January, festival organizers released the entertainment and culinary lineups that included Irma Thomas Soul Queen of New Orleans, Ivan Neville, Little Freddie King, Joy Clark and Tujague’s, Loretta’s Authentic Pralines, Plum Street Snoballs and Bao Mi.
A traffic advisory will be in place for the duration of the festival. On Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14, traffic will be blocked for on street stages between the 400 and 500 blocks of Royal Street.
Access passes for residents, business owners, employees and hotel guests to be allowed past the checkpoints will be available at the New Orleans Police Department’s Eighth District Station at 334 Royal St.
