GRAND ISLE, La. (WGNO) — The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for a man who fell overboard near Grand Isle on Wednesday, March 13.

On Tuesday, March 12, the Coast Guard reported that watchstanders received a report of a boat taking on water with two men on the boat and another who had fallen overboard after the boat hit a rig.

The two men on the boat were medevaced to a New Orleans hospital and a search was launched for the third man who had fallen overboard.

After searching more than 926 square miles for more than 30 hours, the Coast Guard announced it had suspended its search around 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Coast Guard officials said the incident is under investigation.
