City of New Orleans opens cooling centers as high temperatures continue across city

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — City of New Orleans leaders announced that emergency cooling centers have been opened as high temperatures continue in the city.

In a news release, city officials said the National Weather Service is predicting “feels like” temperatures of 108 degrees to 118 degrees in the New Orleans area between July 3 and July 5.

City officials said residents can find places with free, indoor air conditioning through the interactive NOLA Ready Heat Relief Map.

Residents can cool off at designated cooling centers throughout the city during the daytime from July 1 through July 3:

The following indoor pools will be open to residents from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.:

The following outdoor pools will also be open to residents from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.:

City leaders also advised residents to take proper safety measures to prevent heat-related illnesses and emergencies. Residents were provided with the following tips:
