NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a deadly crash involving a pedestrian in the Seventh Ward Tuesday morning.

Around 12 a.m. on Feb. 13, NOPD officers said they were called to the scene at the corner of North Claiborne and Elysian Fields avenues, where a sedan was headed west on North Claiborne, crossing over Elysian Fields when the driver struck a man.

According to NOPD officers, the driver was taking the man to a local hospital when he called 911 and flagged down a New Orleans EMS personnel near the corner of Cleveland Avenue and South Derbigny Street.

The man was pronounced dead by EMS.

The NOPD later identified 21-year-old Jeremy Lindsey as the driver of the sedan.

According to the NOPD, Lindsey was arrested and faces charges of vehicular homicide and hit-and-run driving.
