NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority announced that it will offer free rides on Saturday, March 23 for election day in Louisiana.
RTA officials said the organization will give free bus, streetcar and ferry rides in an effort to increase accessibility to polling sites.
They said the free rides come as part of a 2020 resolution adopted by the New Orleans City Council to “eliminate fares on official election days, underscoring the agency’s priority to create an equitable transit system.”
RTA officials said riders can use the Le Pass app to plan their routes to the polls.
