Motorcyclist killed in St. James Parish crash

ST. JAMES PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Troopers with the Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that left a motorcyclist dead in St. James Parish on Sunday, June 9.

The LSP reported the crash happened on Louisiana Highway 20 near Louisiana Highway 18 around 8 p.m.

LSP officials said an investigation shows 83-year-old Errol Dufresne was driving a Ford north on Louisiana Highway 20 while 54-year-old Lansing Octave was riding a motorcycle south.

According to the LSP, Dufresne tried to turn left into a private drive and crossed the motorcycle’s path, leading to a collision.

Octave suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Dufresne suffered minor injuries, and his passenger suffered moderate injuries. The passenger was taken to a hospital for treatment.

LSP officials said Dufresne took a voluntary breath test, which showed no sign of alcohol.

The investigation is ongoing.
