TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A crash on a Tangipahoa Parish highway claimed the life of a Hammond woman on Wednesday, June 5, according to the Louisiana State Police.
At 3:30 p.m., troopers said they were called to investigate a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 443 near Chappepeela Road.
An investigation revealed that 43-year-old Jill Tarver was headed south on the highway in a Toyota Camry when, for unknown reasons, she drove off the road, crashing into a tree.
Troopers said Tarver was not wearing a seatbelt during the incident, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.
A passenger in Tarver’s car was wearing a seatbelt but suffered moderate injuries, according to troopers. They were taken to a hospital for treatment, but their condition was not released.
The investigation remains ongoing as Tarver’s toxicology results are pending.
