GRAMERCY, La. (WGNO) — A multi-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 641 in Gramercy early Tuesday, July 2, has been cleared after shutting down traffic in the eastbound lanes of the interstate.
The crash that happened at mile marker 200 in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 reportedly caused a nine-hour closure and according to officials with Total Traffic New Orleans, an overturned 18-wheeler is also involved.
As a result of the crash, traffic was diverted off the highway at 641 and drivers were advised to take Airline Highway to LaPlace.
Crews were on the scene at 6:11 a.m. attempting to remove the 18-wheeler from the road and by 7:09 a.m. all lanes were cleared.
Traffic officials add that the truck’s trailer was carrying a nitrogen product but there was no sign of a leak. Additionally, the crash in the westbound lane of the Highrise has also been cleared but some backups remained.
